About The Event
What does it take for a European entrepreneur to establish a floral art business in Japan, and then expand it worldwide? To what degrees are the roles of guile, gumption, and luck critical for success? What is the role of creativity in product design? How does an entrepreneur continue the creative spark as the managerial demands of the business continue to grow? How do you help operational staff who started in a small business grow into managers of people in a much larger one?
If you are interested in the answers to these questions and more, please join us and ask entrepreneur and founder Nicolai Bergmann yourself.
Committee Leaders of the ACCJ Retail and Independent Business will start a conversation with Nicolai Bergmann and then invite the audience to ask questions, providing ample time for you to ask yours.
There will be no slides, speeches, or presentations—just provocative, unscripted conversation. As a special bonus—Nicolai will produce one of his signature works of floral art while speaking!
If you lead or work in a business in Japan, are an entrepreneur, or want to be one regardless of industry—or if you just love Nicolai Bergmann’s floral art—this is an event not to be missed.
About the Speaker
Nicolai Bergmann is a Danish-born floral artist and entrepreneur known for his innovative approach to design.
After relocating to Japan in the late 1990s, he founded Nicolai Bergmann Flowers & Design in 2000 and quickly became a leader in the floral industry. His signature flower box—a sleek, modern arrangement—revolutionized floral presentation and earned global recognition.
Throughout his career, Bergmann has collaborated with top international brands and crafted bespoke designs for prestigious events, setting new standards in contemporary floral art. His brand has expanded internationally, with stores in Seoul, and Copenhagen.
Beyond floral design, Bergmann has diversified into lifestyle ventures, including workshops, retail, and Nicolai Bergmann NOMU, a café concept that blends botanical beauty with a unique dining experience. In 2022, he launched Nicolai Bergmann Hakone Gardens, a project that merges his extensive expertise with the tranquil natural surroundings of Hakone’s Gora area.
In 2025, Nicolai Bergmann will celebrate the 25th anniversary of his iconic flower box.
