About Ramboll Japan

During the last years, the offshore wind business in Ramboll has grown by several hundred percent on the Asian market and today, the Danish company is one of the largest global players within consulting engineering companies on the Japanese market for offshore wind energy. With the new office established in the capital of Japan, Ramboll seeks to leverage its position on the local market and be closer to the clients tapping the offshore wind business.


Shinichiro Abe has been appointed Country Director and his main responsibility will be to expand Ramboll’s capabilities and reach in the area. Shinichiro Abe has more than 20 years of global renewable energy industry experience including the latest position in a leading offshore wind company in Denmark. He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and learned policy management at Keio University.

The Japanese market for offshore wind is in full expansion and the Asian country plans to install 45 GW of wind energy by 2040 as part of its target to become net-zero by 2050. Ramboll has been present on the Japanese offshore wind market since 2013 and last year has achieved a major contract for performing the detailed foundation design of a new offshore wind farm, which will be one of the largest in Japan.

ROCKWOOL Japan LLC acquired the stonewool manufacturing plant of Bansyo Holdings, completed in Tomioka Town, Fukushima Prefecture in November 2017 to expand its business into the manufacturing field and support the areas affected by the earthquake/tsunami. As a company that "creates the future with the people of Japan," we will continue to move toward the reconstruction of Tomioka Town.
